WASHINGTON, Aug 08, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) –
eVerifile, a leading employment
screening and workforce solutions company, today announced it will
provide employee credentialing solutions to the American Bus Association
(ABA), a trade group that represents more than 1,000 motor coach and
tour bus operators in the U.S. and Canada.
To ensure ABA is complying with and implementing new transportation
safety regulations, eVerifile also will consult with the ABA on a number
of regulatory requirements instituted by the U.S.’s Federal Transit
Administration (FTA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and
Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Transport Canada.
The total number of bus fatalities in the U.S. increased to 218 in 2011
from 172 in 2008, according to the FTA. Motorcoach safety has received
increased public attention as a result of serious accidents during 2011.
Terrorism remains another concern surrounding passenger transportation
companies.
Canada’s bus safety record is extremely reliable – over the past decade,
bus passengers comprised less than 0.3 percent of road fatalities.
Nonetheless, bus passenger safety is an ongoing concern of Transport
Canada, provincial and territorial governments, and the public.
“U.S. and Canadian agencies and industry associations have made
recommendations to improve safety within the industry. eVerifile will
partner with the ABA the help ensure that the organization abides by
these and other regulations,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of
eVerifile. “eVerifile also is taking its risk assessment services – such
as criminal background checks, motor vehicle records and employment
verification – one step further by working with the ABA as the
organization proactively drives policy. We will help the ABA and its
members stay ahead of the curve by self regulation.”
“The ABA has a strong commitment to helping fulfill the transportation
and travel needs of the American public,” said ABA President and CEO
Peter J. Pantuso. “With the help of eVerifile, we will improve
protection of our passengers whether they are on long distance or local
motorcoach trips.”
